Alliant offers a Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan for their students that are underwritten by United Healthcare, an “A” rated healthcare insurance insurer as determined by A.M. Best. The options provided under the plan are designed to provide the maximum coverage with an emphasis on cost to the student.
All students who live on the San Diego campus, all undergraduate students, and all international students will be automatically enrolled in and billed for Alliant’s student injury and sickness plan for an estimated amount of $250 per semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer) every semester of enrollment. Students may elect to waive the Alliant coverage and be credited for the charge if they meet the following criteria: they must present proof of private coverage in the form of an official enrollment card from their Insurance company; the private policy must cover the student through the entire semester; the student must complete a Health Insurance Waiver; and the student must submit the completed waiver and their proof of Insurance to Student Business Services no later than the published deadline for each semester. All accepted waivers will be signed by Student Business Services, and a copy will be given to the student. No late waivers will be accepted. Spouses and dependants can be added to the policy directly with the carrier at www.uhcsr.com.
The University cannot provide counseling or advice regarding the benefits of the policy. The University is only the supplier of the policy and has no authority to modify or interpret the benefits offered by the carrier. Any questions regarding benefits should be directed to www.uhcsr.com. A complete list of benefits can be found at this website as well.
Domestic graduate students who choose to purchase insurance must enroll online at www.uhcsr.com.
