The masters-level, three year program, which is designed to develop culturally competent practitioners, is taught in Japanese. The program includes face-to-face classroom courses, online courses, plus three week-long intensive seminar courses.

The program's face-to-face classroom courses are based in Tokyo and take place on weekends, once per month. Students also attend week-long intensive seminars in Tokyo during their first and second program years. During their third year, they attend a week-long intensive in the United States.

The program curriculum integrates US models of psychological theory and practice with modifications that are culturally appropriate for populations in Japan. Students benefit from the expertise of both US and Japanese faculty.
